Music Video Analysis
Impact section
Radioactive
In the Radioactive music video, there is an enigma created at the beginning of the video which we incorporated into our music video at the beginning, when we see a dead body but do not see who it is. Also, we incorporated the setting into our music video as the official Radioactive music video is set in a forest as is ours.We believe the forest adds to the post-apocalyptic setting as it was empty and looked desolate. There is also a prevalent use of cold colours such as the dark grey sky and the dark blue shirt that the lead singer is wearing, this is similar to our music video as the two main characters are wearing dark grey and it was filmed when the sky was grey.
It's Time
This music video impacted our music video the most as it featured the same post-apocalyptic environment. This gave us ideas on how to successfully create a post-apocalyptic setting. Much like other Imagine Dragon music videos, there is a heavy use of cold colours such as grey and dark blue, which helped influence our use of the day-tonight filter in our music video. as well as the sepia tint to establish a post apocalyptic setting.
Demons
This music video has had a great impact concerning the performance aspect that will help us improve our music video. The video shows the band on a stage signing to an audience which is an aspect we tired to replicate. To fit in with our post-apocalyptic theme we used an abandoned building in the forest we filmed for our performance. Another aspect we liked was the cross-cutting between the narrative and the performance which we also took inspiration from to use in our music video.
Pompeii - Bastille
In the first shot of the Pompeii music video there is a use of cold colours such as dark grey which we used in our music video through the sky which was cloudy and dark grey, as well as costumes which were grey and navy to emphasise the post-apocalyptic genre. The lead singer in the music video is also sleeping on a mattress in an empty apartment living an un-glamorous lifestyle. We replicated this into our video as the two main characters are seen at the beginning of the video sleeping in the forest in sleeping bags living a similar lifestyle.
