Pitch Ideas
Pitch 1 Will & Bradley's PitchThe video starts with no music, and the camera is level with the ground. The camera tracks to the left slowly, passing a body on the ground. There is blood on the floor and just before the camera reaches the body's face, the screen cuts to black and the music starts.
The next shot is of a tent in the middle of a forest, and the next shot cuts to two people inside the tent waking up. This is followed by multiple quick jump-cut takes of the two packing up their belongings and their tent. The two set off together and walk through the forest/wasteland, they pass a noose on a tree which symbolizes death. They find an abandoned house, and find supplies e.g tins of tuna, a lighter etc. They sit down for lunch, and a flashback shows of one of the survivors having lunch with his family before the apocalypse. Cuts back to him and his friend. Throughout the whole video there are cuts to the band singing. They set off again, after a while they find a shotgun shell on the floor, inspect it. The camera shows a two shot of the pair, and camera zooms out to show a third survivor, holding a gun. The survivor points at their bag, and in an heated argument he shoots one of the pair and runs away. The one survivor is left with his one dead friend and is sad, after a while he sets off on his own. |
Pitch 2 Paolo's PitchThe video begins a man waking up in a large city which is empty. He is sleeping on the street in a sleeping bag. Once he wakes up he begins his journey down the abandoned street.
After walking he encounters a building in which he is familiar with, it flashes back to him inside the building searching for supplies and a close up of him closing a particular window, once it has flashed back to the present he realizes this same window is open and goes to close it. He continues walking down empty streets until he sees a house he breaks into this house to find supplies. He goes into the kitchen and finds cans of food which he can eat. He eats these with his bare hands. He then sets up his blanket to sleep on the bed in the upstairs bedroom. Once he has woken up he reaches for his cans of food but finds he has no food left and leaves to find some food. Once he leaves he begins walking back down some streets. There is close up of his face as he is shocked. The camera jump cuts to a man standing at the other end of the street holding a weapon. The screen cuts to black. Throughout the video there is crosscutting to a singer performing a live performance. |

Impact Section:
We chose to do Pitch 1 as the group believed it had a better narrative. Our audience liked both pitches, but expressed concern for pitch 2 as they thought that it would be too hard to film in a city, and suggested that we incorporate some of our ideas from pitch 2 into pitch 1. The general consensus is that we should use our first pitch, and that all we needed to improve was to make the relationship between the two characters more obvious. The group thought that Pitch 1 had the best narrative however could have used some aspects in Pitch 2 such as the enigma with the window and a cut to black at the end. We also learned that we should make the post-apocalyptic theme more obvious for example showing abandoned houses and use different effects while editing our video such as a filter. The group decided that our Pitch was an unconventional indie music video as it had a distinct narrative unlike conventional indie music videos. In conclusion we are happy with our audience feedback and have a better understanding of what people think of our pitches and where we could improve our video.
